AJ Stephans Birch Beer PURE CARBONATED WATER, CANE SUGAR, FLAVORING, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVATIVE)
A birch beer by any other name would taste slightly better than this. Granted, it has plenty of carbonation, sweetness and 'Birch' flavor. It also has that funky-funky aftertaste that leaves you gritting your teeth together trying to scrape it off.

I'm not sure if this is a compliment, but...this is the best AJStephans product that I have consumed so far. I'm still a little per-plexed about this mysterious "flavoring" they speak of on the ingredients. The ingredients could be read as "flavored sugar water". I think that would be easier to understand.

AJ Stephans Olde Style Sarsaparilla PURE CARBONATED WATER, CANE SUGAR, NATURAL & ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, CARAMEL COLOR, RED NO. 40, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS)

I have seen Oktoberfest beer as dark as this soda. The scent is superb, the sarsaparilla really stands out. The flavor is good (initially) and I could taste various flavors well. Then the aftertase kicks in and tends to spoil the experience. It is probably just me but I thought that it was the dry aftertaste that brought this one down a notch. Is alum an ingredient?

Once again I have lost my faith in the word sarsaparilla. I really want to like the taste but I can't. Boy am I glad Tim just brought me a MT. Dew to wash that bad sassy down.

Baron's Boot Hill Sassparilla CARBONATED WATER, FRUCTOSE, NATURAL FLAVOR, CARAMEL COLOR, CITRIC ACID AND SODIUM BENZOATE.

It hit the glass and foamed up nicely. It has a dark RB color and a sas'prilla flavor. I liked the fact that this one did not surprise me with an odd color or an overpowering flavor but, I was hoping that it had something 'special' to it.

This sassparilla is far from sassy. In fact it has about as much kick as a glass of tap water. Tastes like your low budge soda. Get it for your collection but don't bother drinking it.

Boylan's Creamy Red Birch Beer CARBONATED WATER, CANE SUGAR, PURE BIRCH OILS, NATURAL FLAVORS, VANILLA, NATURAL YUCCA EXTRACT, VANILLIN, CITRIC ACID, CARAMEL COLOR, RED 40, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS).

Red, foamy and full of goodness. This one appealed to my sweet tooth. It has a tinge of wintergreen flavor to it which means you may not be able to chug more than one at a time.

This beverage tastes nearly identical to the Boylan's Original Birch Beer. If there were any difference I would say that this has a slightly higher belch factor. That's just one guys opinion. I may be wrong........but I'm not.

Boylan's No Sugar Here Diet Birch Beer CARBONATED WATER, PURE BIRCH OILS, NATURAL FLAVORS, NATURAL YUCCA EXTRACT, VANILLA, VANILLIN, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS), SUCRALOSE, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM.

If you must drink a DIET birch beer then by all means drink one of these. I have no reason to drink anything DIET as it conflicts with the mayonaise on my bacon triple cheese burger. Sucralose should not be for human consumption... bleh!

After Careful consideration, I must rename this beverage to..."Boylan's No Color Here Extremely foul Diet aftertaste wannabe a Birch can't take more than two stinkin' drinks Beer".

Boylan's Original Birch Beer CARBONATED WATER, CANE SUGAR, PURE BIRCH OILS, NATURAL FLAVORS, CARAMEL COLOR, NATURAL YUCCA EXTRACT, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVES FRESHNESS).

It leaves your mouth dry. Having said that, I can call it my only complaint. I like the spice flavor, dark color and out of the ordinary experience. The aftertaste is part of the Birch flavor, get used to it!

A strong taste...yes. This is the flavor that a Birch Beer should have. You may not enjoy slamming too many of these monkeys. But I would really enjoy this brew with my meal.

Briar's Birch Beer CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CARAMEL COLOR, SODIUM BENZOATE (A PRESERVATIVE),CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS

This is still an aquired taste. If you do not like wintergreen or wood oil, grab a glass of grape soda and get away from birch beers. Very sweet, great birch taste, still couldn't chug more than one if I had to. These are sippin' brews buddy.

Holy spearmint soda bat! This bevy screams flava. Did I say "flava"? The taste just clings to your mouth inards and frolics for a moment dancing with excitement. Drink this when you want to drink a soda but you don't want to taste some same ol', same ol'.

Briar's Sarsaparilla CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CARAMEL COLOR, SODIUM BENZOATE (A PRESERVATIVE),CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS

A really good sas'prilla. This brew should appear on your list, it is on mine. I am going back for more!

I've been very happy with the whole Briars collection. The sarsaparilla definitely has a "root" flavor. The taste is distinct but not where you're reaching for the tongue scraper. Buy one of each and have your own taste-fest.

  Crazy Ed's Sasparilla

That was good stuff! This Sasparilla has a snap of great flavor that makes you want to sample another just to taste it again. Barkeep, got another?

This was good for a sarsaparilla. It had a distinct flavor but not a distinctively bad flavor that you might get from a nappy sarsaparilla. I would drink it again if it were offered.

Genuine Hank's Premium Philadelphia Birch Beer

www.hanksbeverages.com

FILTERED CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CARAMEL COLOR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, SODIUM BENZOATE (A PRESERVATIVE),CITRIC ACID, YUCCA AND QUILLAIA EXTRACTS, ACACIA. AND RED NO. 40.

Red, sweet and foamy is about the only thing that needs to be said. I was a bit put off by a "Birch Beer" in my trusty frosted mug but I think this stuff is going to make me a believer! "Barkeep, pass me another!"

Hank has done it again. Can I get this in the 84oz. mega big gulp size? This may very well be closest we humans will get to Root Beer Bliss. Praise Hank. If you don't try to hunt down a bottle of this, then you are not worthy to be on our web sight.

Hansen's Signature Sarsaparilla

www.hansens.com

TRIPLE FILTERED CARBONATED WATER, CANE SUGAR, CARAMEL COLOR, MALIC ACID, NATURAL SPICES, BLEND OF MADAGASCAN, INDONESIAN, AND TAHITIAN VANILLA EXTRACTS, HONEY, WINTERGREEN EXTRACT AND NATURAL FLAVORS

If it is possible to have a soda taste 'maltier' than another then this one does so. It's not bad, just different than one would expect. It is dark brown, maple sugary sweet and smooth. Once again, it is different, so be prepared.

Oh Sweet mama. This is a really sweet tasting brew. You wouldn't want to drink more than one at a time unless you were munching on some vittles in between swiggs. Definately has flava.

Hosmer Moutain White Birch Beer CARBONATED NON-CHLORINATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SWEETNER, CANE SUGAR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORING, POTASSIUM BENSOATE, CITRIC ACIS, NO ARTIFICIAL COLORS OR CAFFEINE

It is crystal clear, smells and tastes like wintergreen candy yet it is a beverage. So I was initially put off by a Pepto-Bismol flavored soda but, I overcame the odds and found myself enjoying the uniqueness of this drink. Insta-belch at 9.

Keeping the Birch Beer standards high. I really liked the crytal clear color of the drink. The flavor leaves a sweet peppermint taste behind. Drink it with aunt Martha's meatloaf to hide the flavor of her bad cooking.

Journey Borealis Birch Beer SPARKLING PURIFIED WATER, NATURAL SWETNER BLEND (UNREFINED CANE SUGAR, WHOLE RICE SYRUP, TREE-TAPPED ALASKAN BIRCH SYRUP), HERB AND SPICE BREW (WATER, BIRCH BARK, ROASTED CHICORY, JUNIPER BERRIES, OTHER HERBS AND SPICES), PHOSPHORIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS

Journey Shenandoah Sassafrass SPARKLING PURIFIED WATER, NATURAL SWETNER BLEND (UNREFINED CANE SUGAR, BROWN RICE SYRUP, HONE, BARLEY MALT), ROOT AND SPICE BREW (WATER, SASSAFRASS ROOT BARK*, STAR ANISE, MIXED HERB BLEND), PHOSPHORIC ACID, NATURAL FLAVORS

*SAFROLE FREE
Mystic Seaport All Natural Birch Beer CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, PURE VANILLA EXTRACT, NATURAL FLAVORS & OILS (INCLUDING ANISE, CLOVE, SWEET BIRCH, WINTERGREEN)
Another one that smells and tastes like wintergreen candy. It is very sweet but the first sip has a bitter bite (more like a chomp) that almost goes away after the second sip. It is drinkable and nearly enjoyable. If you have a sweet tooth and can handle wintergreen, grab one.

The only thing mystic about this brew is it's flavor. I take a swigg and feel as though I just licked about 248 stamps. I reccommend buying one of these to stick your stamps in so you do not have to lick them. 2 stars

Ol' Bob Miller's Wild West Red Sas'parilla

www.olbobmillers.com

CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR AND/OR HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SWEETNERS, CARAMEL COLOR, CITIRC ACID, GUM ARABIC, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL SARSAPARILLA FLAVORS, FD&C RED NO.40 AND SODIUM BENZOATE (A PRESERVATIVE), NO CAFFEINE.

Hrmmm.... it is a little on the WTH side and tastes good. This sas'prilla flavor is unique and I recommend it, if you can find it in your local store. Extended belch factor of 8.

For a "sas'parilla" I must give this high marks. For an overall beverage...it seemed to loose it's pizazz after a half a glass. It left me wanting more. Belllllllllllllllllllllch x 2.

Old Mill Sarsaparilla
CARBONATED WATER, SUGAR AND/OR CORN SWEETENERS, CARAMEL COLOR, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL SARSAPARILLA FLAVORS, ARTIFICILA COLOR, CITRIC ACID, RED NO. 40, BENZOATE OF SODA PRESERVATIVE.

Its red, it tastes like Sas'prilla and that is about all there is to say. It is a bit too sugary and makes it more of a colored soda than a unique drink.

I have to admit, I may not be the sarsparilla type of guy. Maybe it's the 3 lbs. chicken chimichanga that is frolic-ing in my inards... I just don't care for anything that has a hint of clove flavor.

Olde Brooklyn Bayridge Birch Beer WATER, PURE CANE SUGAR AND/OR HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, CARAMEL COLOR, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVATIVE), CITRIC ACID AND RED NO. 40.

For the first Birch Beer tested, this is not too bad. It kind of has that Xmas spice potpourri flavor to it. It is a sweet drink so it may be a task to drink more than one at a time.

I am not yet a "Birch Beer Fan". However, this is good enough to catch my interest. If your want a new taste that will go well with dinner, this is your brew. I would drink this again.

Sarsaparilla Root Beer SPARKLING SPRING WATER, FRUCTOSE, MOLASSES, OUR OWN NATURAL SARSAPARILLA FLAVORING OF LICORICE ROOT EXTRACT, NATURAL OILS OF ANISE, CHERRY BARK EXTRACT, AND HERBAL EXTRACTS.

FIRst sip = ick. Second sip = blah with less ick. This could have had the makings of a fine tasting Sas but, it just doesn't cut it with me. Not enough flavor.

Light golden brown in color. Does that make it taste better??? Anyway...The flavor is that of your average brew that has nothing special to it. For some reason it is found in the "Health Food" area of your grocery store.

Sioux City Sarsaparilla CARBONATED WATER, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CARAMEL COLOR, SODIUM BENZOATE (PRESERVATIVE), CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS.

Hooowah! The flavor of this one stands up, jumps at you and delivers a back-hand full of Sas'prilla right to your chops! I liked it and will be on the lookout for another bottle.

Not too shabby, Has that chalky taste to it that some people might like. As I got more near the bottom of the glass, I started to appreciate the flavor a little more.
